A leading utilities shop based out of Louisiana is looking to bring on a Commodity Risk and Control Manager to report directly to the Chief Risk Officer. The Utility is currently undergoing a pretty significant transformation within their risk division, as they are now much more analytical and quantitative than previously before. They're ideally looking for an experienced individual with strong knowledge of risk management and electricity markets, who can help lead a team to build out a governance function across the business/
Brief Overview:
The Commodity Risk and Control Manager will lead a team accountable for developing, enhancing, and providing oversight across the business' governance and control programs to ensure that the firm meets its financial objectives. He/she will develop operational control oversight processes for commodity transactions, risk measurements and validations, risk policies, risk reporting, and training programs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the governance structure for segregation of responsibilities between front office, mid office and back office
- Lead the develop and implementation of commodity operational risk control procedures
- Manage monitoring and risk validation of commodity transactions and portfolio risk exposures
- Integrate ETRM systems into commodity control processes
- Maintain compliance with risk related SOC, MISO, FERC and operational controls
- Perform periodic counterparty credit and collateral exposure reviews
- Directly manage a team performing commodity control activities
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience working in the energy sector, direct risk/governance experience is preferred
- 3+ years of people management experience
- Experience with ETRM systems, specifically Allegro
- Knowledge of gas, coal, and power transactions
- Excellent vernal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel/VBA
