Job Descriptions:
Reporting to the CEO of the Company and functional lead at the HQ, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Legal matters that affect the Group with regard to UK and EU legal matters;
- Overseeing all legal work undertaken within the Company day-to-day;
- Supporting both equities sales and trading team and investment banking team;
- Supporting the management of the Company, in terms of keeping the management apprised of legal and regulatory updates that will affect the business;
- Putting in place appropriate training and creating new policies and procedures to reflect the changes or updating existing ones, which includes changes to financial services regulations;
- Working closely with the compliance teams in London, Hong Kong and China;
- Supporting the management in oversight of operational matters ideally with some understanding of finance, tax and employment rules and also trade settlement;
- Assisting the Board of Directors on company secretarial matters;
- Working with teams in other jurisdictions.
Skills and Abilities
- A professional with excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of integrity;
- A self-starter who is independent and able to take the initiative;
- Strong analytical and evaluative skills;
- Attentive to detail;
- Able to work alone and with a team;
- Capable of working under pressure;
- Mandarin language skill preferred but not essential.
Qualifications:
- A solicitor qualified in England & Wales;
- Minimum of 8 years PQE in financial services;
- Trained at a leading law firm and who has spent the latter part of their career in-house in financial services;
- Have strong compliance knowledge in financial services.
