A leading hedge fund is actively seeking a dynamic Fundamental Credit Analyst to join their growing, world-renowned team. Working in their London office, this position gives you the opportunity to provide in-depth analysis of corporate issuers, including Investment Grade (IG) and High Yield issuers.
Your primary duties will encompass thorough scrutiny of issuer fundamentals and market dynamics, delving deep into unique situations and companies facing financial stress, all while crafting bespoke fundamental models. Your ingenuity will be put to the test as you generate trade ideas and present them to discretionary Portfolio Managers for immediate execution. Throughout the trade life cycle, your vigilance will be instrumental in dynamically refining and monitoring trade concepts.
What you will do:
- Execute rigorous credit analysis, encompassing IG/HY corporate issuers or EM issuers.
- Conduct continuous screening and in-depth evaluation of issuer fundamentals and market dynamics within your designated coverage area.
- Undertake exhaustive investigations into special situations and financially distressed firms, devising and enhancing customised fundamental models.
- Originate trade ideas based on your analytic insights, which will be promptly submitted for implementation by discretionary Portfolio Managers.
- Exercise real-time monitoring and adaptability to fine-tune trade concepts throughout their life cycle.
- Execute relative-value assessments relative to industry peers within the same sector or sub-sector.
- Sustain and enhance bespoke models for specialised situations and high-conviction trades.
- Keep a vigilant eye on news developments and research publications related to all covered issuers.
- Foster and cultivate relationships with pertinent sell-side analysts and syndicates.
- Actively engage in internal meetings, fostering constructive dialogue with Portfolio Managers, quantitative analysts, and fellow research analysts.
Qualifications:
- c.2-7 years of related experience.
- Exhibit a profound grasp of company fundamentals, encompassing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Possess robust analytical capabilities and exhibit meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with core credit instruments such as Bonds, Credit Default Swaps (CDS), Index, and Loans is advantageous.
- Proficiency in programming is advantageous.
- Demonstrate an ability to thrive under pressure within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
