Our client, one of the world's largest international banking groups, is looking to hire an experienced Operational Risk professional at senior Executive Director level to provide industry and product expertise across the full Operational Risk function of the firm's global Securities business. The firm are one of the largest US consumer financial services firms with a huge Securities arm that continues to go from strength to strength. As Head of Operational Risk, you will have had prior experience in Trading and manage a specialist team of Senior Vice Presidents and Associate Directors who are responsible for proactively providing advice and challenge to key stakeholders in the first line as well as senior Traders across North America, EMEA and APAC regions. You will report directly into the CRO where you will be driving a strong risk management culture through expert advice to senior leaders.
The ED, Head of Operational Risk will be responsible forโฆ
- Working closely with 1LOD stakeholders to ensure regulatory obligations and standards are being met
- Assessing business opportunities for operational risks, providing guidance on the approval of these activities, and ensuring post completion conditions to approval are implemented effectively
- Assist in the implementation of operational risk frameworks and driving a strong risk management culture providing expert operational risk advice as it pertains to the
- Proactively identifying operational risks and assessing the adequacy of controls to manage such risks, including recommending enhanced or additional controls
- Running specialist Operational Risk Assessments across the global securities business
- Representing ORM to the board and senior management
The ED, Head of Operational Risk should have the following qualificationsโฆ
- 15+ years of relevant experience with minimum 8 years' experience gained in an operational risk in 1LOD/2LOD or providing oversight of a major Trading business
- Prior experience as a Trader will be viewed as a huge advantage
- Deep technical knowledge of Securities Trading businesses
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication skills and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical skills
- People management experience
