As the Data Center Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining the firm's US Data Centers which includes the following:
- Maintaining a clean cable management environment and data center documentation
- Coordinating remote work, expansions, and migrations at colocations
- Managing and monitoring power, space, and capacity planning
- Managing hardware inventory and responsibility of hardware transportation between sites
- Troubleshooting hardware related issues
- Installing and cabling switches, servers, and appliances to the onsite data center
What you'll need to be successful as a Data Center Engineer:
- Ability to communicate and document clearly
- Strong attention to detail
- Prior experience with change control processes
- Technical & Hardware background:
- Understanding of network fundamentals, network equipment (line cards, SFPs, chassis), and ability to troubleshoot basic networking issues
- Understanding of OS (Windows & Linux)
- Prior experience with Jira
- Understanding of server rack power management, physical server parts, structured cabling systems (cat 5, cat 6, single-mode fiber, multi-node fiber, etc.), and cable testers.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Occasional travel to an east coast colocation when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted and occasional weekend work
- Prior data center experience in financial industry is preferred
